Hey, I hope you had a great weekend! I spent mine cleaning up the leaves, helping Scott paint siding for a project he is working on and lots of playing with the puppy. Check out how cute he is, I had him strike a pose for you.
I am constantly being asked to share my fat loss “secrets” with people looking to drop a few pounds. Tricks they can use, products they can buy to get an edge on fat loss. But the truth is, there really is no secret. Just the facts. And I am going to share them here with you today. So shut off the late night infomercials and start working on these 3 musts:
1. You must eat a clean and properly portioned diet.
No amount of exercise can make up for a crappy diet. You must avoid foods high in calories, trans fat, refined sugar, nasty processed foods, and ALL fast food. Over consumption is a big issue as well, you must keep those portions in check.
2. You must engage in total body resistance training.
You must add muscle to your physique. Not only is muscle wildly metabolically active, burning more calories than fat, but it has much better shape and tone than fat. When you have more muscle you simply look better. To gain muscle, get off the treadmill and focus on total body strength training moves during your exercise sessions. Use exercises with compound movements, those that incorporate multiple joints and muscle groups. These types of moves will give you the biggest burn for your buck. A good example of a compound movement is the squat or squat with overhead press.
3. You must incorporate high intensity interval training into your exercise regime.
Research shows that high intensity cardio intervals burn more calories and fat than the traditional long, slow distance that so many people currently rely on for fat loss. Not only will you burn more

calories during your exercise session but you will be burning more calories for 24 hours after you stop! And because you only need to engage in this type of training 3x/week for about 20 minutes, it is simply the more efficient way to burn fat.
Stick to these 3 musts for fat loss and you will be burning fat like crazy in no time.
And if you think you could use a little extra guidance in these three areas, consider working with an online personal trainer.
Good Luck!
Susan
