Joel Marion’s Xtreme Fat Loss Diet Day 5

I was actually looking forward to day 5 on Joel Marion’s new 25 day rapid fat loss program, Xtreme Fat Loss Diet.

It was the protein/depletion day with a lactic acid workout and a 30 minute cardio session later in the day.

I was looking forward to it now because I really wanted to eat food that had some substance to it. I wanted a steak I could bite into! I wanted to feel even a little bit full. And that’s what I got!

To determine how much food you eat today you just do a simple calculation based on your lean body mass.

I was supposed to eat 222 grams of protein today spread over 5 meals. That would equal about 44 grams of protein at each meal. OK, no problem.

Because the point of a protein/depletion day is to deplete your energy stores so you can refill on the next day’s cheat day, fat and carbs should be avoided in your diet today.

So, that doesn’t leave a whole lot of food choices for me, since I love getting my protein from nuts and legumes. I had to eat meat and eggs all day (I was too lazy to go all the way to the store for cottage cheese).

Here is a quick recap of my Xtreme Fat Loss Diet today. I’ll warn you, it’s pretty boring:

  • 9 am: 3 organic eggs, 1 protein shake with almond milk –>42 grams protein
  • 1:30 pm: 1/2 pound ground beef from local farm –>46 grams of protein
  • 4:30 pm: 1/4 pound of ground beef from local farm, 2 organic eggs, 1.5 cups spinach –>44 grams of protein
  • 8:00 pm: 6-7 ounces steak from grass fed cow –> 46 grams of protein

For those of you doing the math you will see that I was 46 grams of protein and 1 meal short on today’s diet.

I simply could not eat anymore! Isn’t that an awful problem to have?

Next cycle I will start eating way earlier on my protein/depletion day so I can get all of my meals in. I am working so damn hard doing all this strength training so I want to do everything I can to make sure I keep the muscle I have and maybe even add a little more.

Now, if you want to get technical, I really didn’t do anything to get in the way of the fat loss portion of the program…..I was in a ketogenic state all day, which is what Joel Marion planned for. But the point of consuming all that protein was to insure we did not lose any muscle in the process of breaking down tissue for energy.

Good thing I supplemented with the BCAA’s as prescribed for the day.

Oh, and one thing I noticed was that it was really easy to get dehydrated today with eating all that protein.

You must drink enough water throughout the day.

The protein/depletion day comes with another wonderful lactic acid workout. These workouts are extremely challenging, tough, and they take forever since you have to do the movements so slowly.

But all in all, I was able to complete the workout today without incident, just lots of cussing out it’s creator, John Romaniello.

Later on in the day I performed my 30 minutes of cardio on my rebounder again right in my living room (love home workouts) using an advanced cardio workout routine. That one kicks my butt every time so I use it when I go “xtreme”.

This will complete my first cycle of 5 days on the Xtreme Fat Loss Diet. Tomorrow I start all over again with another cheat day.

BTW, I am soooo ready for my cheat day tomorrow, you have NO idea! I want ice cream so bad.
