Susan and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week

by Susan · 24 comments

Hey All – it’s been a whole week since I’ve even been on my computer, let alone posted a blog article.

And I just wanted to take a minute to apologize to you for being M.I.A.

But really, I had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week and I just couldn’t get myself to sit here to do anything.

I hope you don’t feel like I’ve let you down because I wasn’t here to help keep you motivated or to send you some awesome home workout tips or healthy recipes. But ever since Thanksgiving it has been one thing after another.

Now, I’m not complaining or anything. Really, I’m not. But the events of the week had me so stressed and distracted – so I thought I would share with you a few of the major issues I had this week:

1. As many of you know, Scott and I decided to move in together at the end of October. The plan was for me to move out of my house, rent it, and move into his house. So, little by little I moved my things into his place. On Nov 27th I had a renter officially take the place but he wanted it for Nov 30th. SO, I had 3 days to get all my crap out of my house, almost exclusively by myself. It sucks when all your friends and family members have actual jobs. So, for about 8-10 hours per day I was driving back and forth from house to house, loading and unloading my Jeep, again and again. For those of you who would like to know, I did make the deadline – sort of. I was supposed to be out and have the place clean by 3 pm on the 30th. It ended up taking until about 5 pm or so to get out, and Scott was kind enough to help me with the last little bit.

2. On November 29th a very special friend of mine was diagnosed with leukemia. I absolutely lost my spirit with this news. This special friend of mine is the 7 year old daughter of one of my very best friends. She and I have a very special bond and I am so sad that she has to tackle this issue and go through chemo treatments. And my heart aches for her family who has to watch their little girl be so sick. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers and send her all the positive thoughts you can. I will be forever appreciative……

3. I was able to go visit my special friend on that same day she was admitted to the hospital. I also went the following night. And somehow, somewhere, I picked up a sore throat and little cold. Now I’m really pissed because I certainly don’t want to go visit her with these germs which could contribute to a further compromised immune system. I did, however, get to take her little sister to gymnastics Wednesday night and that was so much fun! SO, at least I was able to contribute and help someway, if not by lifting my special friend’s spirits.

So, I guess that was the bulk of my terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week.

But there was one good thing that happened this week.

I was able to put together a new fat loss video with a very important secret to fat loss. If you would like a sneak peak you can check it out by clicking here.

Here’s to leaving a crappy week behind.

Your Coach,

Susan Campbell, MS, CSCS

sad to know that you had a bad week, will pray for your friend and hope she makes a full recovery in due time. also, take care of yourself, shifting houses is no easy work, takes a lot of time not just to shift things but to get settled in a new house is a bit of mental makeup really,

Thanks for the well wishes. Things are looking up, however, they are also looking down a pretty long road. The dust has definitely started to settle – literally! I am out of the house and moved in (although not totally unpacked) with Scott, my cold is barely noticeable, and for the most part all is well. Thanks for coming by and taking the time to leave a comment. Next time, it would be great if I knew your name.

Nice to meet you, Uttoransen! No need to be shy here. Maybe you should visit a blog that talks about ways to increase your memory?? HA! Just kidding. Thanks for coming by!

Sorry to hear about little friend. Life can be very cruel at times.

My hubby had chemo therapy about a decade ago and is now fully cleared and enjoying life to the max. Tough times ahead for your friend but hopefully it will eventually be all behind her.

And you were right not to visit once you’d picked up a cold. If only everyone was so unselfish.

Its really one hard week Susan, Mitch was obsoletely correct, you write when you feel to do it. Moreover writing under such painful situations will bring up bad posts only.

Hope you will have a good week ahead..:)

Funny, I usually don’t write very personal posts like the this one – I often talk about my diet or my workout but beyond a few sentences I really don’t put it all out there. But yes, I doubt I would ever be able to write a really great content article being distracted – and so damn tired from moving. But good news – I’m on the mend and I am 100% positive all will work out. It always does. Thank you so much for reading and taking the time to write me a note!

Gosh Susan,

That is horrible. I am sorry to hear all of that. I really hate it when bad things happen to children. It is really a shame to hear about that. My prayers do go out to your little friend. I wish her the best and I feel for her family in these tough times. I cannot imagine anything rougher than having a really sick child like that.

Best wishes,

Hi Steve, yeah, so many kids are affected by the form of leukemia she has, ALL. It’s very common and very treatable but since it is a DNA issue, you gotta wonder why there is such a high prevalence. Diet? Environment? Genetics? Bad luck? Either way, she has been such a trooper this past week and is responding well to her treatments. And she gets that from her parents who are also hanging tough. The good news is that it just may nudge me enough to join the leukemia and lymphoma society team in training this year. That would be pretty cool, I guess. Maybe raise some $$ for the cause.

I really appreciate your support and you taking the time to read my post and comment. :-)

13 Deb December 4, 2010 at 8:05 am

Susan, so sorry to hear about your terrible week. Events like that can literally suck the life out of you! Here’s wishing you a better week ahead and a full recovery for your little buddy.

14 susan December 4, 2010 at 4:02 pm

Hey Deb thanks for leaving a comment with some positive energy. She is my little buddy! Good news though, she is responding well to treatments! Keeping our fingers crosses. :-)

15 Amr Boghdady December 4, 2010 at 1:17 am

Really sad hearing about your best friend’s daughter
Chemo is really a tough one, my father is currently being treated with chemotherapy, and it has been a really tough time on all of us
I’m keeping her in my prayers, and her family too

16 susan December 4, 2010 at 4:00 pm

Thanks Amr, sorry to hear about your Dad. I guess everyone knows someone now a days. It’s so crazy how many people now have some form of cancer. Keep your chin up and we will all keep your Dad in our thoughts as well. Thanks so much for taking the time to come by and leave a comment despite the fact that you are probably SO distracted. Much appreciated.

17 Mitch December 3, 2010 at 5:52 pm

Sorry to hear about your bad week. Hey, you write when you write, and that’s what you do, regardless of what others might think. Still, there were some positives mixed in there, which you mentioned, so even though they don’t quite balance out, you could still see some good around you as well.

18 susan December 4, 2010 at 4:11 pm

Mitch – always so wise! Yes, a few awesome positives in there – for example, moving in with my main squeeze after 3 years! I am so excited, this is our first xmas in the house together and we have a really fun night of decorating ahead of us! Thanks for pointing out the positives. Besides, now that the dust has cleared things are starting to work themselves out and I’m breathing a whole lot easier. Hey thanks for coming over and giving me hell as per usual! I’ll be returning the favor shortly!:-)

19 Mitch December 4, 2010 at 11:10 pm

Great; just leave the carrot pasta at home; yeah, I said it! lol And any time you need a lift, call me :-)

20 susan December 5, 2010 at 7:38 pm

Oh no you didn’t!!! Thanks Mitch, if only I knew where I could read about staying motivated… :-)

21 Tristan December 3, 2010 at 12:12 pm

I’m really sorry to hear this, Susan! It breaks my heart when I see kids having to go through stuff like that. I’ll definitely keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

Also, I can definitely relate to what you said about it sucking when all of your friends and family have real jobs! Not cool!

I hope this next week is better (on the bright side, it can only go up from here, right?). I’m looking forward to seeing the stuff you come out with in the future! Good luck with everything!

22 susan December 3, 2010 at 2:28 pm

Thanks a lot, Tristan. I appreciate you keeping my lil friend in your thoughts. She’s a tough cookie and her prognosis is good. I have no doubts –

I will be back on track next week with some good stuff! Thanks for always coming by and leaving great comments. I always look forward to your stuff too :-)
