The Diet Solution Program – Day 21-22: What To Do When You Cheat On Your Diet

I’m back with my reviews of days 21-22 on Isabel Del Los Rio’s The Diet Solution Program.

It was a tough couple of days.

After 20 days of near perfection (if I do say so myself) I went very wrong on days 21 and 22.

On day 21 I attended a big birthday bash for one of my best friend’s 1 year old daughter.

As always, they provided a great spread…..Subway sub platter, crockpot meatballs and kielbasa, green salad, pasta salad, fruit salad, chicken wing dip, spinach dip…..YUM!

I am proud to say that I got through the meal eating according to The Diet Solution Program. I chose only foods that were specific to my metabolic type and tried to keep portions in check.

Desert is where I went very wrong.

I love this family – they are known for their deserts – they had homemade peanut butter cookies with a peanut butter cup in each one, homemade chocolate truffles, and brownies with mint frosting.

Of course that’s not to mention the birthday cake!

So, Scott and I tried all of the deserts, sharing each one. They were each only a few bites big so that worked out great.

But as the party went on, I started to go get my own cookie….then I went back and grabbed my own truffle – ok, maybe two truffles.

The good news is Scott got his own piece of birthday cake and I really wasn’t all that into it because I’m not a cake girl. Thank goodness.

But by 4 pm the damage had most definitely been done.

Then on day 22, I went over to a little family get together because my cousin was in town.

I managed to again do a great job with dinner ordered from an Italian restaurant….salad, a giant meatball, and a small piece of eggplant parmigiana.

I did not take pasta or any of the giant loaf of bread they had.

Again, I made pretty good choices and stuck to the fods that are part of my metabolic type as determined by The Diet Solution Program.

But then they whipped out 2 half gallon cartons of ice cream and I totally caved! I absolutely cannot, and I mean CANNOT, say no to ice cream.

So my Uncle served me up a gigantic bowl and I tell you I licked that thing clean and loved every second of it.

So, I have had two days in a row where I gave in to my sweet tooth. What do I do now?

I do no further damage and wipe the slate clean as if nothing happened.

That’s right, I don’t say “the hell with it” and eat everything in site because the day is already ruined.

I don’t starve myself the rest of the day because I indulged earlier.

And I definitely don’t forget all the hard work I have done over the last 20 days and fall off the wagon comepletely never to return.

I get up, I dust myself off, and I move forward as planned in The Diet Solution Program and I do the best I can to not let it happen again.

Look, there’s no such thing as perfection. But everyday I strive to be perfect in my efforts.

So, on the days where I fall short of perfection, I know I am still going to be about 80-90% perfect, and that’s a hell of a lot better than what most people achieve on any given day.

Even though I cheated on my diet and fell off the wagon, I’m actually ok with it because I know because I have done so well up until now that I can afford to have a slip up once in a while.

I just can’t make it a habit.

And I won’t.

Until then, strive to have a perfect diet 100% of the time, so when you inevitable cheat on your diet or fall of the wagon you are still way ahead of the game.
